MicroRNA 1268a (MIR1268A) is a short, non-coding RNA molecule (microRNA) involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms, primarily by affecting mRNA stability and translation. It is highly expressed in certain physiological and pathological contexts and has been implicated in embryogenesis, cell differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and as a biomarker in diseases such as neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, various cancers, and stroke risk. MIR1268A exerts its function by loading into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to guide repression or degradation of specific target mRNAs.
