MicroRNA 1269b (miR-1269b) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule that functions as a post-transcriptional regulator of gene expression. It is involved in controlling the expression of specific mRNAs by binding to their 3' untranslated regions, leading to mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation. miR-1269b shows aberrant expression in several cancers; its low expression in gastric cancer is associated with increased tumor size and lymph node metastasis, suggesting a tumor suppressor role in this context. Conversely, high expression has been linked to poorer prognosis and drug resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma and non-small cell lung cancer. miR-1269b modulates key oncogenic pathways primarily through direct effects on targets such as METTL3 (methyltransferase-like 3), CDC40, SVEP1, and PTEN. Its diagnostic and prognostic potential in cancer, as well as its involvement in drug resistance, make it an emerging target for therapeutic intervention and biomarker development[1][3].
