Overview

MicroRNA 1272 (MIR1272) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule in humans that regulates gene expression primarily by binding to sequences in the 3′ untranslated regions (3′ UTRs) of messenger RNAs. Like other microRNAs, it guides the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to its mRNA targets, resulting in translational repression or mRNA degradation. MIR1272 is transcribed as a primary miRNA (pri-miRNA) and processed through the canonical microRNA biogenesis pathway involving proteins such as Drosha and Dicer before becoming a mature miRNA[1][4]. The specific biological targets and functions of MIR1272 remain incompletely characterized in the scientific literature as of the current date.
