microRNA 1273c (MIR1273C) is a member of the microRNA family of small, non-coding RNAs found in humans. As with other miRNAs, its principal function is expected to be the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, although there is currently no experimental evidence describing its targets or functions. It has not been implicated in any disease processes or considered for therapeutic targeting, and may represent a computational prediction rather than a validated molecule. The use of MIR1273C for clinical or research purposes would require further functional characterization.
Generally, microRNAs act by guiding the RNA-induced silencing complex (miRISC) to complementary mRNAs, inhibiting their translation or causing degradation.
