Overview

MicroRNA 1288 is a short non-coding RNA molecule (miRNA) classified within the miRNA family. It is transcribed, processed via Drosha and Dicer pathways, and then incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), where it directs post-transcriptional regulation of target mRNAs. Expression of MIR1288 is reduced in many colorectal cancers compared to normal tissue and adenomas, and restoring its levels experimentally increases cell proliferation and drives cell cycle progression, indicating a complex role in cancer biology. MIR1288 is being investigated both for its functional role in cancer progression and as a potential therapeutic target or biomarker for patient stratification[1][2].
