MicroRNA 1295a (MIR1295A)

Target
MIR1295A
Molecular classification
MicroRNA, Non-coding RNA, Small RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA 1295a (MIR1295A) is a short (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA molecule that regulates gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by base pairing with messenger RNAs (mRNAs) to inhibit translation or promote mRNA degradation. Like other miRNAs, MIR1295A is transcribed by RNA polymerase II, processed by the Drosha and Dicer enzymes, and incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to modulate target mRNAs. Its altered expression, along with other miRNAs, is implicated in the regulation of critical biological processes and may contribute to disease states, especially various cancers, by affecting gene regulatory networks.
