Overview

MicroRNA 1302-5 (MIR1302-5) is a human microRNA gene located on chromosome 20 that produces a mature microRNA (miRNA) through canonical miRNA biogenesis, including processing by Drosha and Dicer enzymes[2][1]. The mature miR-1302-5 molecule functions within the RISC complex, regulating the translation and stability of multiple target mRNAs by imperfect base pairing[2]. MIR1302-5 belongs to the larger miR-1302 family, which originated from MER53 transposable elements and exhibits considerable evolutionary diversity among placental mammals[1][3]. Genomic studies suggest its target genes are over-represented in pathways related to cellular transport, localization, development, binding, and transcription regulation, although its precise biological or disease role in humans remains undetermined[1][2]. There are no current drugs or therapies directly targeting MIR1302-5, and it is not an established biomarker or therapeutic target as of this writing[2][1][3].\n\nIf more specific functional or disease data is needed, additional experimental and clinical studies are required, as the functional characterization of MIR1302-5 is still largely unexplored[1].
