Overview

MicroRNA 1302-9 (MIR1302-9 or hsa-mir-1302-9) is an RNA gene and part of a family of short (20-24 nucleotide), non-coding RNA molecules called microRNAs (miRNAs). It regulates gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by binding target mRNAs to inhibit their translation or destabilize them, typically through the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). This family, including MIR1302-9, is derived from the MER53 DNA transposable element and is present in multiple paralogous copies in the human genome (e.g., mir-1302-1 to mir-1302-9). However, its specific biological function and disease involvement remain poorly characterized, and its functions are not well elucidated. The gene symbol MIR1302-9 (HGNC: 38218) is recognized, but it often appears in genetic annotation databases without functional annotation. Current literature does not provide evidence for MIR1302-9 as a direct therapeutic target, disease biomarker, or an entity with known drug interactions. Its individual biological and disease roles, specific interacting drugs, and mechanisms of action have not been delineated in current scientific resources, and no particular safety issues relevant to pharmacology have been identified.
