Overview

MicroRNA 1469 (MIR1469) is a human microRNA approximately 21–23 nucleotides in length that regulates gene expression by binding to the 3' UTR of target mRNAs, leading to their degradation or translational repression. MIR1469 has been implicated in the control of cell migration, invasion, and apoptosis in various cancers. It is frequently downregulated in aggressive tumors such as ulcerated melanoma and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, correlating with poor prognosis, increased invasion depth, and lymph node metastasis. Restoration of miR-1469 expression in cancer cell lines suppresses tumor cell migration and invasion. MIR1469 functions through regulation of key cancer-related genes, including MCL1, STAT5a, and NDRG1, and may act as either a tumor suppressor or promoter, depending on cellular and cancer context.
