Overview

MicroRNA-1539 (miR-1539) is a human microRNA, a short non-coding RNA (approximately 21 nucleotides in length) involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression through binding to target mRNAs, resulting in their silencing or degradation. Recent studies highlight its upregulation in exosomes and tissues of colorectal cancer patients, with its expression correlating with markers of tumor proliferation and angiogenesis such as Ki-67 and VEGF. Emerging research supports its potential utility as a sensitive, minimally invasive biomarker for colorectal cancer screening and prognosis, with additional reports suggesting possible roles in other diseases; however, its broader biological function and target genes remain incompletely characterized[1].
