MicroRNA 1914 (MIR1914) is a short, non-coding RNA molecule (20–24 nucleotides) belonging to the microRNA family and acts primarily by regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level[5]. It is transcribed as part of a primary transcript, subsequently processed by Drosha and Dicer enzymes to yield the mature miRNA, which is then loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). MIR1914 participates in mRNA silencing via partial base pairing, which typically results in translational repression or degradation of target mRNAs[5][2]. MIR1914 has been identified as differentially expressed in certain cancers: it distinguishes between gastric cancer subtypes (up- or down-regulated in signet-ring cell carcinoma vs. tubular adenocarcinoma)[1] and may contribute to chemoresistance in colorectal cancer[6]. More broadly, miRNAs including MIR1914 are implicated in cancer pathogenesis, cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, immune response, and may serve as disease biomarkers and potential future therapeutic targets[4][5].
