MicroRNA 1972-1 (MIR1972-1) is a gene encoding a short, non-coding RNA molecule (miRNA) of approximately 20-24 nucleotides. As part of the miRNA family, MIR1972-1 is transcribed by RNA polymerase II, processed from a primary transcript (pri-miRNA) to a stem-loop precursor (pre-miRNA) by Drosha, and then to a mature miRNA by Dicer. The mature miRNA is loaded onto the RISC complex, from which it guides repression of specific target messenger RNAs via base-pairing in the 3' untranslated regions, leading to translational inhibition or mRNA degradation. The regulatory role of MIR1972-1 reflects the general function of miRNAs in fine-tuning cell gene expression post-transcriptionally and contributes to diverse cellular processes, though specific biological or pathological roles for this miRNA have not yet been published. No direct association with specific diseases, drugs, or clinical applications is currently documented for MIR1972-1; its functional annotation is limited to general miRNA-mediated mRNA regulation.
