MicroRNA-1976 (miR-1976) target mRNAs represent a diverse set of messenger RNAs that contain sequences complementary to the seed region of miR-1976, typically located in their 3' untranslated regions (UTRs). miR-1976 is a small non-coding RNA that acts as a post-transcriptional regulator, primarily functioning as a tumor suppressor in various malignancies, including lung, breast, and colorectal cancers (1.2.1, 1.2.2). By binding to its target mRNAs, such as NCAPH, PLCE1, and XAF1, miR-1976 induces mRNA degradation or translational repression, thereby modulating critical cellular processes like proliferation, apoptosis, and metastasis (1.2.1, 2.1.4). In cancer, miR-1976 is frequently downregulated, leading to the overexpression of its oncogenic targets and the activation of pro-survival pathways like NF-κB (1.2.1, 1.2.3). Conversely, in certain cardiovascular conditions like sick sinus syndrome, miR-1976 may be upregulated, targeting calcium channels and contributing to sinoatrial node degeneration (2.1.5). Therapeutic strategies involving miR-1976 mimics aim to restore its tumor-suppressive function by silencing its oncogenic target mRNAs, while miR-1976 inhibitors are explored for conditions where the miRNA is pathologically overexpressed (1.1.2, 2.1.3).
