Target intelligence / Profile preview

MicroRNA-210 (miR-210)

Target
miR-210
Molecular classification
microRNA, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA-210 (miR-210) is a highly conserved, small non-coding RNA molecule that regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally. It is strongly induced by hypoxia and plays a central role in cellular responses to low oxygen levels. miR-210 influences a variety of biological processes including mitochondrial metabolism, angiogenesis, cell proliferation, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of miR-210 is implicated in diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

Mechanism of action

miRNAs guide the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to complementary sequences on target mRNAs—primarily within their 3′ untranslated regions (UTRs)—to inhibit translation or promote degradation.
