Overview

MicroRNA 2113 (MIR2113) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule that functions in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression by binding to complementary sequences on target mRNAs, leading to their degradation or inhibition of translation[5]. Like other human microRNAs, MIR2113 is transcribed as a stem-loop precursor and processed into a mature microRNA, which is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). Changes or variants in the MIR2113 sequence have been reported in some studies to associate with neuropsychiatric diseases such as bipolar disorder, but its specific biological functions and validated mRNA targets remain to be clearly defined[3][5]. There is no current evidence supporting direct pharmacological targeting or clinical biomarker use.
