Overview

microRNA 2116 (MIR2116), also known as hsa-mir-2116, is a putative human microRNA gene annotated in sequence databases like miRBase. MicroRNAs are small, non-coding RNAs involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, typically functioning via base pairing with complementary sequences in target mRNAs to induce silencing through mRNA degradation or translational repression[3][4][5]. However, there is currently no published functional or clinical literature specifying unique biological activities, validated targets, disease associations, or therapeutic relevance for MIR2116. It is not considered a well-established therapeutic target, nor is there evidence of it being biomarker or drug interaction partner. The lack of any substantial functional studies, experimental characterizations, or disease-linking publications indicates that MIR2116 is currently only defined bioinformatically and its biological relevance remains unconfirmed.
