MicroRNA 302e is a member of the miR-302 family, consisting of small, non-coding RNA molecules (approximately 19–25 nucleotides) that regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by binding to complementary sequences on target mRNAs, resulting in translational repression or mRNA degradation. The miR-302 family is highly expressed in embryonic stem cells and is involved in maintaining pluripotency and regulating the cell cycle. Dysregulation of this family, including miR-302e, has been implicated in cancer progression, stem cell reprogramming, and possibly in cardiovascular disease. Although miR-302e itself is not directly targeted by any approved drugs, microRNAs as a class are being explored for their therapeutic and biomarker potential, particularly in oncology and regenerative medicine[2].
