MicroRNA 3122 is a human microRNA gene (miRNA), encoded as a non-coding RNA. MicroRNAs such as miR-3122 are short (20–24 nucleotides) RNAs that regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by targeting mRNAs for degradation or translational repression. The biogenesis involves transcription of a primary microRNA, nuclear processing by Drosha/DGCR8, cytoplasmic processing by Dicer, and incorporation of the mature miRNA into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which mediates mRNA targeting and silencing.
