Overview

MicroRNA 3128 (MIR3128) is a short, single-stranded, non-coding RNA molecule expressed in humans. Like all microRNAs, MIR3128 is transcribed as a primary transcript (pri-miRNA), processed in the nucleus by DROSHA and DGCR8 to form a precursor (pre-miRNA), exported to the cytoplasm, and further cleaved by DICER into its mature form[1][2]. Mature MIR3128 is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), where it regulates gene expression by binding to complementary sequences in target mRNAs, typically resulting in reduced protein production via mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation[1][2]. The specific mRNA targets, cellular roles, and disease associations for MIR3128 have not yet been extensively validated or characterized in the scientific literature. Generally, microRNAs can be involved in development, cell proliferation, apoptosis, cancer biology, and tissue-specific gene expression, but MIR3128’s unique role remains to be elucidated[1][2][3].
