Overview

MicroRNA 3133 (MIR3133) is a short, non-coding RNA gene that produces a microRNA molecule, functioning primarily to regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally in humans. MIR3133 is processed from a primary transcript to a pre-microRNA by Drosha and then to a mature microRNA by Dicer; the mature microRNA is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which binds target mRNAs and typically causes their translational inhibition or destabilization. This regulation contributes to cellular processes such as differentiation, proliferation, and development. MIR3133 has been associated with Osteochondrosis and Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease based on gene-disease correlations, but its direct functional role in disease biology or as a therapeutic target is uncharacterized. There is currently minimal publicly available data on the specific biological roles, target genes, or therapeutic relevance of MIR3133; it is best understood as a component of the broader miRNA regulatory network.
