MicroRNA 3155b (MIR3155B) is a short (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA that modulates gene expression post-transcriptionally in human cells. It is produced via a multi-step process involving initial transcription by RNA polymerase II, cleavage of the primary transcript by Drosha to yield a pre-miRNA stem-loop, and subsequent cleavage by Dicer to form the mature miRNA. The mature MIR3155B associates with the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), recognizing target messenger RNAs predominantly through imperfect base pairing, resulting in translational inhibition or mRNA destabilization. Consistent with the function of microRNAs as a class, MIR3155B is part of a vast group of non-coding genes that participate in fine-tuning cellular processes including development, differentiation, and maintenance of cellular homeostasis; however, no specific disease associations, drug interactions, or clinical applications for MIR3155B have yet been described in the literature[1][4].
