Overview

microRNA 3156-3p (MIR3156-3) is a human microRNA, part of a class of short non-coding RNAs regulating gene expression predominantly through post-transcriptional repression of target mRNA molecules[2][5]. Like other microRNAs, MIR3156-3 is transcribed as a precursor RNA and processed by Drosha and Dicer enzymes into a mature form that associates with the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to guide gene regulation based on sequence complementarity with its target mRNAs[1][2][5]. However, as of this writing, there are no peer-reviewed experimental data or curated database entries that describe the expression pattern, validated gene targets, functional roles, involvement in disease, or pharmacological targeting of MIR3156-3. This reflects either a lack of investigation or possible misannotation in available resources. Thus, while MIR3156-3 likely participates in gene-regulatory pathways common to microRNAs, its individual biological and therapeutic significance remains uncharacterized in the literature. If you meant a different gene, protein, or well-characterized microRNA with a similar name, or have an alternate spelling or abbreviation, please clarify for a more targeted response.
