Overview

MicroRNA 3175 (miR-3175) is a short (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA molecule in humans that belongs to the class of microRNAs (miRNAs)[1]. MiRNAs are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, typically through binding imperfectly to target mRNAs and causing translational inhibition or mRNA destabilization[1]. miR-3175 is predicted from sequence databases but there is little published functional or disease-specific information linking this particular miRNA to therapeutic targeting or biomarker use in human diseases to date[1]. It participates in the general mechanisms of miRNA biogenesis—being processed from a primary transcript by Drosha and Dicer, and incorporated in RNA-induced silencing complexes (RISC)[1][7]. There is no direct evidence for drugs targeting miR-3175 or for its established role in specific diseases, though the class of miRNAs in general is heavily studied in gene regulation, cancer, and other fields[2][3][4].
