Overview

MicroRNA 3177 (MIR3177, also known as hsa-mir-3177) is a short non-coding RNA molecule, part of the microRNA (miRNA) family, which are typically 20-24 nucleotides in length and regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by affecting mRNA stability and translation in multicellular organisms[1]. MIR3177 is classified as a microRNA gene, and while the general function of miRNAs is to participate in gene silencing via incorporation into RNA-induced silencing complexes (RISC), no specific biological pathway, disease mechanism, or validated therapeutic targeting data exists for MIR3177[1]. Diseases such as Factor V deficiency and Vitelliform macular dystrophy are mentioned alongside MIR3177 in some gene annotation resources, but there is no evidence that MIR3177 directly underlies these phenotypes or acts as a direct therapeutic target[1].
