Overview

microRNA 3183 (MIR3183) is a small, endogenously expressed, non-coding RNA molecule of the microRNA class in humans. MicroRNAs mediate post-transcriptional gene silencing by binding to complementary sequences in target mRNAs, typically resulting in translational repression or target degradation. Like other miRNAs, MIR3183 is produced from a precursor transcript by processing through the Drosha and Dicer RNase complexes, eventually becoming part of a silencing effector complex that regulates gene expression[1]. While the functions of many microRNAs in biological pathways and diseases such as cancer, immune response, and cell cycle control are well established, the specific targets and physiological roles of MIR3183 have not yet been well characterized in the published literature[1][3][4][5].
