Overview

MicroRNA 3194 (MIR3194) is a small non-coding RNA sequence expressed in humans and classified within the microRNA gene family. MicroRNAs function predominantly in post-transcriptional regulation by binding complementary messenger RNA, resulting in either translational inhibition or mRNA degradation. MIR3194 has been associated with endocrine gland cancer and is implicated in reproductive physiology, specifically in regulating aquaporin (AQP1, AQP9) and S100A9 protein expression to modulate trophoblast migration and invasion in the endometrium[1][3][4]. It is processed from longer pri-miRNA transcripts through the sequential action of Drosha and Dicer enzymes, generating mature forms incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) for target recognition. MIR3194 and its variants (isomiRs) may exhibit functional diversity in different tissues or disease states, but it is not a primary receptor, enzyme, or transporter target for drugs[1][2][3][4].
