Overview

MicroRNA 345 (miR-345) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule encoded on human chromosome 14q32.2 that functions mainly as a regulator of gene expression post-transcriptionally, by binding target mRNA and inhibiting its translation or promoting its degradation. miR-345 is implicated in the regulation of genes involved in apoptosis, cell proliferation, cell cycle, EMT, and chemoresistance, and is widely studied for its tumor suppressor roles in pancreatic, colorectal, prostate, liver, and breast cancers. Its expression is often downregulated in malignancies, correlating with more aggressive disease and chemoresistance. Restoration of miR-345 can induce apoptosis in cancer cells, making it a promising target for therapeutic intervention and a potential biomarker for prognosis and therapeutic response in oncology
