MicroRNA 3618 (MIR3618) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA class, which serves as a regulator of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Like all microRNAs, it is transcribed as a primary transcript (pri-miRNA), processed to a precursor (pre-miRNA), and then to a mature miRNA, which is typically 21–23 nucleotides in length. General miRNA function involves binding to complementary target mRNAs, leading to their degradation or translational inhibition. However, no studies were found detailing the specific targets, functions, disease roles, or therapeutic relevance of microRNA 3618, and it is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or classic therapeutic target. Little to no functional or clinical data is available for this specific miRNA, making it an obscure or possibly incorrectly cited target in current biomedical literature[1][2][4][7]. Most microRNAs, including MIR3618, are not targets of pharmaceuticals nor are they classified as classical drug targets such as receptors or enzymes. As of current knowledge, there is no established role for MIR3618 in disease, patient selection, or therapeutics. MIR3618 is not known to have any interacting drugs or direct mechanisms of action.
