MicroRNA 3646 (miR-3646) is a short, non-coding RNA belonging to the microRNA class that functions primarily in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression[5]. It is transcribed as a precursor RNA, processed to its mature form, and incorporated into the RISC complex, where it binds to partially complementary sequences in target mRNAs to inhibit their translation or promote degradation[5]. miR-3646 is notably overexpressed in several cancers, including breast cancer, bladder cancer, and lung adenocarcinoma, where it promotes cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and survival by targeting genes involved in these processes—including RhoA and SORBS1[1][3][4]. Downregulation of miR-3646 suppresses tumor growth, induces G2/M cell cycle arrest, promotes apoptosis, and upregulates tumor suppressor genes[3][4]. miR-3646 is under investigation as a prognostic and diagnostic biomarker in oncology, but there are currently no known drugs specifically targeting it, nor is it considered a classical drug target such as a receptor or enzyme[1][5].
