Overview

MicroRNA 3648-2 (MIR3648-2) is a short (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA molecule transcribed from the MIR3648-2 gene. As a member of the microRNA family, it regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally, primarily by binding to complementary sequences in the 3' untranslated regions (3' UTRs) of mRNAs, leading to mRNA destabilization or inhibition of translation. MIR3648-2 and related miRNAs are implicated in regulating proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion in various cancers, often functioning as tumor promoters or suppressors depending on context. Notably, in lung adenocarcinoma cells, miR-3648 promotes proliferation, migration, and invasion by downregulating suppressor of cytokine signaling 2 (SOCS2). In gastric and other cancers, it has been found to target proteins such as FRAT1 and FRAT2, impacting Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. MicroRNAs are not traditional therapeutic targets such as receptors, enzymes, or transporters, but rather non-coding RNAs that modulate gene expression. There is no evidence of approved or direct drugs interacting specifically with MIR3648-2 or any known biomarker/safety information. MIR3648-2 is classified among other (non-coding RNA, microRNA) rather than classical therapeutic target families. MIR3648-2 is not a "receptor" or therapeutic target in the conventional sense; it is a non-coding regulatory RNA. Querying it as a receptor or drug target is incorrect.
