Overview

MicroRNA 3662 (miR-3662) is a small, non-coding RNA of approximately 20–22 nucleotides that post-transcriptionally regulates gene expression by binding to the 3’ untranslated regions of target mRNAs, commonly suppressing their translation or promoting their degradation[1][2]. While minimally expressed in healthy tissues, miR-3662 is highly upregulated in various cancers, particularly triple-negative breast cancer, where it exerts oncogenic effects by targeting and repressing HBP1, leading to enhanced Wnt/β-catenin signaling and promoting tumor proliferation and metastasis[1]. However, its role is context-dependent: in some cancers, such as hepatocellular carcinoma and melanoma, miR-3662 acts as a tumor suppressor. miR-3662 is mainly of interest as a potential diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic biomarker in oncology, especially for breast cancer patients, though no drugs currently directly target this miRNA[1][2].
