Overview

MicroRNA 3670-1 (MIR3670-1) is a member of the microRNA (miRNA) family—short (20-24 nucleotide) non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by binding target messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and inhibiting their translation or promoting degradation. These miRNAs undergo a biogenesis pathway involving RNA polymerase II transcription, cleavage by Drosha and Dicer nucleases, and incorporation into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), where they mediate gene silencing. MIR3670-1 is thus part of these general regulatory processes but has no uniquely well-defined role, molecular pathway, or disease association distinct from those generally attributed to human miRNAs.

03

Disease associations

The specific roles of MIR3670-1 in disease are not well characterized in current literature; however, other microRNAs are known to have implications in cancer and various cellular processes, so it may have unexplored function as a biomarker or regulatory element in disease contexts

Biomarkers

In general, microRNAs (miRNAs), including MIR3670-1, are found as extracellular circulating miRNAs and have potential as disease biomarkers
