Overview

microRNA 3677 (miR-3677) is a non-coding small RNA molecule classified as a microRNA and involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. It is upregulated in various human cancers, including high-grade breast cancer and lung adenocarcinoma, where its expression is associated with more aggressive disease features and poorer prognosis. Functionally, miR-3677 promotes cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. This is likely mediated through negative regulation of tumor suppressor genes such as TLE3 in breast cancer and KLF12 in lung adenocarcinoma[1][2]. In hepatocellular carcinoma and colon cancer, similar oncogenic roles are reported. miR-3677 is under active investigation as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for multiple cancers, but is not itself a classic therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or ion channel[1][2].
