Overview

MicroRNA 3689b (MIR3689B) is a small, non-coding RNA gene in humans that produces a mature microRNA molecule after a two-step processing pathway involving Drosha and Dicer enzymes. MicroRNAs are 20–24 nucleotide RNAs that regulate gene expression by targeting messenger RNAs for translational inhibition or destabilization via the Argonaute (RISC) complex. These molecules play broad roles in numerous cellular processes by modulating gene expression, but there is no current evidence to indicate that MIR3689B functions as a disease gene, drug target, or established clinical biomarker. MIR3689B is classified as a non-coding RNA within the microRNA (miRNA) family and is not described as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical drug target[1].
