MicroRNA 3689d-2 (MIR3689D2) is a small, non-coding RNA found in humans, transcribed from the MIR3689D2 gene. Like other microRNAs, it is processed by the Drosha and Dicer enzymes into a mature microRNA, which is then incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). The mature molecule recognizes partially complementary sequences in target mRNAs, most commonly resulting in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. Specific SNPs in the MIR3689D2 gene have been associated with altered secondary structure and reduced miRNA production, contributing to increased expression of genes involved in the MAPK/Ras signaling pathway and increased susceptibility to B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). There are currently no known drugs or approved therapeutics specifically targeting MIR3689D2. Research into its disease associations focuses primarily on its role as a risk marker and regulator of key oncogenic pathways.
