Overview

MicroRNA 3689e (MIR3689E) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA (miRNA) family, which are approximately 20–24 nucleotides long and operate as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression in multicellular organisms. MIR3689E is transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of a primary transcript that is processed by Drosha and Dicer enzymes, resulting in a mature miRNA that associates with the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to mediate translational inhibition or mRNA destabilization. While microRNAs, in general, are increasingly recognized as biomarkers or potential therapeutic targets, there is currently no evidence that MIR3689E itself acts as a direct therapeutic target, nor are there known drug interactions or established disease associations specific to MIR3689E.
