MicroRNA 3691 (MIR3691) is a member of the microRNA (miRNA) family, which are small, single-stranded, non-coding RNA molecules of about 21–23 nucleotides in length[3]. These molecules regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by binding to complementary sequences in target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), leading to silencing through mRNA cleavage, destabilization, or inhibition of translation[3]. miRNAs, including MIR3691, are not considered classical therapeutic targets like receptors or enzymes but act as part of the RNA silencing complex to fine-tune gene expression in various biological processes[2][4].
