Overview

MicroRNA 370 (MIR370) is a small non-coding RNA molecule (miRNA) that regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally, mostly by binding to the 3’-UTR of target mRNAs, resulting in translational inhibition or degradation of these mRNAs. It belongs to the miRNA class and is transcribed from chromosome 14q32.31 as part of a stem-loop precursor, which is processed to produce mature miR-370-3p and miR-370-5p. MIR370 is implicated in the regulation of critical biological processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, cell cycle progression, and cellular stemness across diverse cancer types and also impacts cardiovascular and immune function. Its expression is highly context-dependent: it acts as a tumor suppressor in many cancers but may also serve oncogenic roles in others. MIR370 is being explored as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker and has potential as a therapeutic target, though its wide-ranging regulatory network and context-dependent effects pose significant therapeutic challenges[1][2][3][4].
