MicroRNA 3918 (MIR3918)

Target
MIR3918
Molecular classification
microRNA, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA 3918 is a member of the microRNA family of non-coding RNAs and participates in post-transcriptional gene regulation in multicellular organisms. It is transcribed by RNA polymerase II and processed through the canonical miRNA pathway, becoming part of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). In breast cancer, MIR3918 is reported to suppress cell proliferation, colony formation, and metastasis by targeting downstream genes such as FGFR1. Its downregulation may contribute to tumor aggressiveness, and it functions within ceRNA regulatory networks involving long non-coding RNAs (e.g., CCDC183-AS1) and protein-coding genes. No known drugs directly interact with MIR3918, and its therapeutic potential lies as a molecular biomarker and indirect regulatory element rather than a conventional drug target.
