Overview

MicroRNA 3924 (miR-3924; hsa-mir-3924) is a short (20–24 nucleotide), endogenous, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA class, functioning primarily in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression[1]. Like other microRNAs, miR-3924 is transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of a primary transcript (pri-miRNA), processed by Drosha and Dicer RNase III enzymes to generate the mature form. The mature miR-3924 is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), where it binds target mRNAs by partial sequence complementarity, resulting in translational repression and/or mRNA destabilization and degradation[1][4]. The specific physiological and pathological roles of miR-3924 remain unclear, as are its direct mRNA targets, though the general function of human microRNAs includes regulation of diverse cellular processes and potential involvement in disease, particularly cancer and developmental regulation[3][6]. There is currently no evidence for direct drug targeting or use as a clinical biomarker. Note: - miR-3924 is distinct from protein-coding genes and has no enzymatic, transporter, or receptor activity. - miR-3924 appears in gene and RNA databases but with minimal functional annotation beyond classification as a human microRNA.
