MicroRNA-3935 (miR-3935) is a small, endogenous, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA class, encoded in the human genome and annotated as hsa-mir-3935. It functions as a post-transcriptional regulator, predominantly by binding to complementary sequences in the 3' untranslated regions (3’ UTRs) of target mRNAs, resulting in mRNA degradation or translational repression[1][2][3]. miR-3935 has been shown to regulate the epithelial-mesenchymal transition of human trophoblasts by targeting and suppressing the expression of TRAF6, which, through downstream signaling, influences the regulation of RGS2 and E-cadherin expression. This mechanism is significant in placental biology and implicated in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia, wherein miR-3935 is notably down-regulated in both placental tissue and maternal blood[1][3]. In cancer biology, overexpression of miR-3935 in lung cancer cell lines suppresses cell proliferation and migration, in part by downregulating targets such as RNF115 and activating ISG15 transcription. Alterations in miR-3935 expression and its downstream pathway components suggest it may serve as both a potential therapeutic target and a biomarker in specific disease states[1][2][3].
