microRNA 3937 (miR-3937, hsa-mir-3937) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule classified as a microRNA. MicroRNAs are key regulators of gene expression, acting post-transcriptionally by binding to target messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and inhibiting their translation or promoting their degradation[1][7]. miR-3937 is found in human plasma and has been identified as significantly associated with alcohol consumption; its levels also appear to mediate the relationship between alcohol intake and liver function or fatty liver disease.
