Overview

MicroRNA 4258 (MIR4258, hsa-mir-4258) is a member of the human microRNA family, small endogenous non-coding RNAs (~19–25 nucleotides), involved in post-transcriptional gene regulation, generally by base-pairing with complementary sequences in messenger RNA (mRNA) to mediate mRNA degradation or inhibit translation[1][2][3][4]. MicroRNAs play critical roles in cellular growth, differentiation, immune response, and apoptosis[2][6][7]. In disease, microRNAs have been implicated as both oncogenes and tumor suppressors, and as biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis, particularly in cancer[3]. The specific roles, functions, and interactions of MIR4258 remain uncharacterized in current literature.
