Overview

MicroRNA 4268 (miR-4268) is a member of the microRNA family, consisting of a short (20-24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA molecule that plays a crucial role in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms[4]. miR-4268 is processed from a primary transcript by Drosha and Dicer enzymes, resulting in mature miRNA that is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which binds target messenger RNAs for translational inhibition or destabilization[4]. According to experimental evidence, miR-4268 acts as a tumor suppressor in gastric cancer by inhibiting cell proliferation, arresting the cell cycle in the G1/S phase, and inducing apoptosis through regulation of signaling pathways (AKT/JNK and p38 MAPK), primarily by targeting the Rab6B gene[1]. There are currently no known drugs that directly target miR-4268, nor are there established safety concerns or biomarker uses described in the literature at this time.
