MicroRNA 4269 (MIR4269) is a human microRNA classified as a non-coding RNA involved in post-transcriptional gene silencing. It exerts tumor suppressor functions in cancer by directly binding the 3′-UTR of oncogenic transcription factors TEAD1 and TEAD4, thus repressing their expression. Downregulation of MIR4269 is associated with poor cancer-specific survival. MIR4269, like other microRNAs, is processed from a stem-loop precursor by Dicer, loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), and guides the complex to target mRNAs primarily in the 3′UTR. MIR4269 may also be implicated as a biomarker for disease and patient stratification
