MicroRNA 4277 (MIR4277) is a non-coding RNA gene belonging to the microRNA family, located in the human genome and transcribed by RNA polymerase II[1]. Like other microRNAs, it functions to regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, primarily by binding to complementary sequences on target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), leading to mRNA degradation or repression of translation[1][5]. The mature form is processed via cleavage by Drosha and Dicer ribonucleases and is loaded into an RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to exert its regulatory effects[1][5]. While microRNAs play broad roles in cellular regulatory networks, only limited disease association (finger agnosia) is described for MIR4277, and no validated drug interactions or clinical biomarkers are reported[1]. The class is defined by short (~20-24 nucleotide) single-stranded RNA molecules involved in gene silencing and cellular homeostasis; microRNA deregulation may be implicated in disease, but MIR4277 has few specific links to major human pathologies.
