microRNA 4284 (miR-4284) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. It functions predominantly as a tumor suppressor in multiple cancer types, including renal cell carcinoma and glioblastoma, where it suppresses cell proliferation, induces apoptosis, and inhibits migration and invasion by targeting genes such as glutamate decarboxylase 1 (GAD1). miR-4284 is downregulated in several cancers and may serve as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker. Small molecule agents such as DET, DETD-35, and BBMD3 can modulate miR-4284 expression and anti-cancer activity. miR-4284 also participates in the regulation of mitochondrial function and cellular oxidative stress responses, with implications for tumor progression and therapeutic response[1][2][4][5].
