Overview

MicroRNA 4286 (miR-4286) is a short, non-coding RNA molecule involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression by binding to target mRNAs and inhibiting their translation or promoting their degradation. It is detectable in human serum and exhibits altered expression in certain cancers (notably squamous cell carcinoma of the lung) and in lesions of neurodegenerative disease such as multiple sclerosis[1][2][3][4]. miR-4286 may regulate cell proliferation, survival, and apoptosis, possibly via modulation of the PI3K/Akt pathway, and is under study for its potential as a blood-based biomarker for cancer diagnosis and monitoring[1][2][3]. No therapeutics specifically targeting miR-4286 are currently approved or in advanced clinical development.
