MicroRNA 4297 (miR-4297) is a short non-coding RNA molecule (miRNA) that regulates gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by affecting mRNA stability and translation. It is transcribed as part of a primary transcript, processed into a precursor miRNA, and then into the mature miRNA, which incorporates into the RISC complex to inhibit or degrade target mRNAs. Recent research indicates that miR-4297 plays a sex-dependent role in glioma, where its serum level correlates with glioma grade and prediction of relapse risk in females. It has been identified as a clinically significant biomarker for glioma, with higher serum levels correlating with higher tumor grade in females, and associations with molecular subtypes such as IDH-mutant glioma and MGMT protein expression[1][2]. No direct interactions with therapeutic drugs or specific mechanisms of drug action have been established for this miRNA.
