MicroRNA-432 is a small, non-coding RNA (~22 nucleotides long) of the microRNA family involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression by binding to complementary sequences in the 3' untranslated regions (3' UTRs) of target messenger RNAs, leading to their degradation or inhibition of translation. miR-432 acts as a tumor suppressor in multiple types of cancer, where it is often downregulated. Its overexpression inhibits cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and promotes apoptosis in cancer cells. It can directly repress oncogenes such as E2F3, AXL, MACC1, and CXCL5, and in some contexts, increases tumor chemosensitivity (e.g., to cisplatin). Due to its association with disease progression and prognosis, miR-432 is being explored as a potential therapeutic target and biomarker in oncology
miR-432 mimics or agonists increase miR-432 function, leading to tumor suppressor effects such as cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and reduced metastasis by directly repressing target oncogenes (e.g., E2F3, AXL, MACC1, CXCL5)
